I had these old fake pumpkins from last year that needed an update. So I decided to try something a little different....

Step 1: draw

To begin, grab a sharpie & begin drawing your shape. I decided to free hand, but you could trace a shape as well.

Step 2: carve

Next, cut out your shape. Grab a knife to cut the big sections & use a craft knife to get into the details.

Step 3: add LED lights

After that, grab some faux leaves & some LED tea lights & place them in the pumpkins. I used flickering tea lights to add to the effect, but regular would work as well! I added the leaves to add off a warm glow, but this is also an optional step.

No bonfire? No problem! Bring these inside for that bonfire feel or add them to your fireplace!

Step 1: add a design

Grab some silicone caulk & begin applying a design. Allow it to dry for at least 24 hours before moving on to the next step.

Step 2: spray paint

After it has dried, grab a spray paint color of your choosing & spray paint the pumpkin.

I wanted mine to have a metallic look so I used gold spray paint and then sprayed looking glass spray paint overtop.

And there you have a whimsical swirly pumpkin sure to dress up any table or mantle!

Step 1: cut

Have some old tights lying around? Grab some tights and cut off the legs. You will need one leg per pumpkin.

Step 2: cover

After that, squeeze the pumpkin into the leg.

Next, grab some rubber bands and tie off the top & bottom & cut off the excess.

If you don't like the look of the tights over the pumpkin, you could try spray painting & using them as a stencil! But I loved how the texture looked!

Step 3: add raffia

Following that, add a bow or some raffia on top to finish off the look!

Add a dollar store garland to a boring shelf & ta-da! You've decorated your shelves for Fall! icon

I hope this inspires you to give your old fake pumpkins a totally new look!
