Grab a couple items from the Dollar Store and your cupboard to make this easy Fall wreath.

You'll need two faux pumpkins, fall greenery, a twig wreath, silver spray paint, wooden letters - H, E, L, L ,O - and cinnamon.

Step 1: Cut pumpkins in half

Using a serrated knife, cut both pumpkins in half so you have four pumpkin halves.

Step 2: Paint

The pumpkins were a little too orange for my taste so I painted two halves white

2 - Then I painted one half lighter orange

3 - and one half green

4 - After they first coat was dry, I added other colors to the pumpkins for a more realistic affect

Step 3: Add wire

Using thin floral wire, thread the wire from the bottom of the pumpkin through to the top of the pumpkin. This is how you will attach the pumpkin to the wreath.

Step 4: Attaching pumpkins

1 - Using a grapevine wreath,

2 - lay the half pumpkin on top of the wreath,

3 - thread the wire through the wreath,

4 - turn the wreath to the back and twist the wire ends together

Repeat the steps with the remaining three pumpkin halves

Step 5: The letters

1 - Begin with wooden letters

2 - Using silver metallic spray paint,

3 - spray an even coat of paint on each letter

4 - Remember to spray the edges of the letters too

Step 6: Making the letters rusty

While the letters are wet, sprinkle a small amount of cinnamon over the letters then spray a light coat of paint to seal the cinnamon in place.

Step 7: Attaching the letters

Once the letters are dry, drill a small hole through each letter

2 - Thread a piece of floral wire through the hole

3 - Thread the wire through the wreath

4 - Flip the wreath with to the back, and twist the wire ends together.

Repeat this step for the remaining letters.

Step 8: Embellish

Using the fall greenery, embellish the wreath

Step 9: Add a little FALL

1 - Using a pencil, draw the letter "F" onto the first pumpkin half; the letter "A" onto the second pumpkin half; the letter "L" onto the third and fourth pumpkin half

2 - Using craft paint, paint the letters using the pencil lines as a guide.

Step 10: Seal the wreath

Using a clear sealant, spray the entire wreath.

Add a hanger and place your wreath on your front door for everyone to enjoy!

So what's the purpose of the cinnamon?

  • Tara Eason Tara Eason on May 22, 2022

It's been my experience when it comes to the paint you use for the letters you write on the pumpkins doesn't work very well. I baste this on when water hits it it comes off.

Can you recommend anything else also is it necessary to cut the pumpkins in half 🤔?

It seems like way too much work for the end result.

Otherwise it looks amazing I love what you did and was looking for something different even if it's not Halloween yet.
