Flag Burlap Banners for Porch Columns

We just love decorating our porch for patriotic holidays like Memorial Day and the Fourth of July - not only do the colors work well with our house, we also love showing our spirit and love for the grand ol' USA!
So when we found burlap printed in Americana colors that had a vintage feel, we just knew it would make great porch decorations. And when our friends, Doug and Liz from HoosierHomemade.com, came to visit recently they graciously helped us create our first project with the burlap: Flag Porch Column Banners!
Decor
Didn't they turn out great? Burlap, because of its design, durability and body, is a great material for banners and wall hangings - outdoors and in.
The banners took only basic sewing skills - measuring & cutting the burlap and straight-stitch sewing. We made the star burlap into the main column banner and used the red striped burlap for flag points.
The points for the striped burlap were they only tricky part of this (and not that tricky, really) - and we've got step-by-step photos to walk you through it on our site (along with a video!).
I really love how the banners turned out and how unique they are - they sure make our porch stand out from the crowd!
