These are the perfect project for the holiday gifts. Sometimes a gift card can feel impersonal, but if you add a fun DIY project like this, it will make it feel much more special! If you love this idea, you can find more DIY ideas on my blog, Love & Renovations.

I started off by tracing an outline on a piece of paper - I used the gift card as a guide for the sizing. I just freehanded the shape of the stocking, and then cut it out using scissors.

Next, I traced the shape onto a piece of 1/4" plywood, then cut it out using a bandsaw (you could also use a jigsaw).

To make the back, I just cut out two small pieces of plywood that were slightly larger than the gift card and traced an outline of the bottom three-quarters of the card onto one of the pieces. Then, I cut it out so that it was a “U” shape (so the card would fit in it, as pictured above.

To assemble, I glued the two back pieces together, then glued both of them to be back of the stocking (with the u-shaped piece sandwiched iin the middle to create a pocket for the card! Finally, I did a combination of stain and paint on the stockings to decorate them and get them ready to hand out!

This is a really quick and simple project that will jazz up any gift cards you're planning on giving out this holiday season. See more details and photos on the full blog post!
