How to Remove Wax From Fabric

After a fatal wax spill on a borrowed fabric my husband suggested the tip of how to get wax off fabrics and I had to share!
For my celebrity couples birthday party I borrowed a bunch of linens from my friend who is a fabulous even coordinator. The silver linens shimmered beautifully in the candle light. The only problem was that some of the candle wax spilled and dripped onto the linens leaving them to look like this.
Heat an iron. Grab an old towel you dont mind ruining. Cover the soiled fabric with an old towel. A rag would work too but you want to make sure it’s thick enough to get hot and not burn the fabric.
Once the iron is hot, “iron” the towel. You want to move the iron slowly over the towel so that the heat has enough time to melt the wax, and the towel has time to absorb it.
Check to make sure the towel has soaked up all the wax. After the wax is off the fabric, toss the old towel and wash the linens like normal.

  • Brown paper bags and an iron work best to remove wax off just about anything, including furniture.
