Looking for the perfect gift for your tween, or just a fun way to jazz up a notebook to keep in your purse? (I always have a notebook in my purse to jot down ideas as they occur to me). This tutorial for covering an inexpensive notebook in reversible sequin mermaid fabric is just what you need.

I bought by blank notebook from the dollar store. The place where so many of my fabulous crafts start. I bought the reversible sequin mermaid fabric from Amazon, but they only sell by the yard. If you need to cover only one notebook, head back to your local dollar store. Every time I go I find purses or pillows or bags with this mermaid sequin fabric that you could pull apart and use for just a dollar or two.

Start by cutting a rectangle of the sequin fabric to the size of the front cover of the notebook (I only covered the front cover). For tips on cutting this type of fabric cleanly, follow the link to the full tutorial below.

Use a glue gun to glue the sequin fabric to the front cover of the notebook. Glue sequin trimming (also found at the dollar store) to the edge to finish off the edges.

It's so pretty and fun, isn't it? So satisfying to push the sequins back and forth, changing the color of the notebook.

Here's a video tutorial to show you how I made my mermaid sequin notebook.
