Create a thrifty but beautiful Thanksgiving table with the help of some chalk paint and feathers. Save some of those cans from making your Thanksgiving meal and paint them with chalk paint. Fill with a variety of feathers and other fall foliage for a pretty and unique tablescape. For more simple holiday crafts that make a big impact head to my blog Design Improvised!

Skip the traditional oranges and browns of Thanksgiving and go with cool chalky blues and creams for your table. Mini pumpkins painted with chalk paint make for a simple and sweet place card.

Soup cans are transformed into vases for various feathers and cattails for a modern centerpiece.

Supplies

  • Soup/vegetable cans (washed and label removed)
  • Chalk paint (I used Martha Stewart Vintage Decor paint)
  • Brush
  • Feathers / Cattails
  • Gold Paint (optional)

Step 1: Paint the exterior of the cans with 1-2 coats of chalk paint.

Step 2: If you like, you can paint some of your feathers with gold paint for a metallic effect.

Step 3: Fill your vase with a variety of feathers. You can add other natural elements or greenery as well if you like.

Step 4: Paint mini pumpkins with chalk paint and add an initial with a sticker for a simple place card.

Add some additional pumpkins to your centerpiece if you like!
