Pink again, but different.
My grandmothers pink dresser was a magical thing for me as a child. I loved going to that top right drawer to get her tin of bobby pins so she could pin curl my hair.
For several years it sat in storage at my parents home. In my minds eye I could still see how pretty it was, but the reality of its condition was an eye opener when we finally moved it to our house.
It had taken quite a beating and there were multiple layers of paint.
But it had lovely details and I just had to rescue it for my master bedroom makeover. The plan was to strip it down, repaint it and then set a vessel sink in it for my new vanity.
My husband spent hours scraping paint....and let's be honest...you know what he would have rather been doing....
After getting the paint off, I stained the top. It wasn't in as bad a condition as I'd thought it would be. At this point I was seriously doubting that I'd have the heart to cut holes in this.
The top I left with just the stain. The rest I painted a dark lavender with a crackle coat and then ballet slippers pink over that. This is the vessel sink sitting on it...but no, I couldn't do it.
I'm certain my grandmother would approve of the transformation. Our master bedroom makeover is still underway. So here is a teaser...my grandmothers photo on the dresser with the painting that has been my inspiration for color choices in the room.
