I found this cute wooden tree at Dollar Tree and it just jumped right into my cart. I had a few different ideas but I finally settled on making it a chalkboard tree!

Here is the original wooden tree I got from Dollar Tree.

I grabbed my Folk Art Chalkboard Paint and a paint brush, covered my work surface with wax paper, and got ready to get started.

I painted on 2 coats of the Folk Art Chalkboard paint letting it dry between each coat. I then let it dry overnight.

I seasoned the tree with chalk. To do this simply coat the entire board with chalk. This will make the chalkboard be able to erase. Without doing this step sometimes the things you draw on a chalkboard stay and won't erase well.

After it's completely coated, erase the board and it's ready for use.

The possibilities are really endless! Use different colored chalk and decorate your tree, use it as a message board, or even a countdown calendar.
