These ornaments are a fun opportunity to use tinsel in a new way! Rather than wrapping the tinsel garland around the tree, wrap it around an ornament instead! This is a fun dollar store project using inexpensive tinsel and foam balls. If you like this simple project, check out these other Christmas craft ideas you can do in under an hour for under $20!

These tinsel ornaments add another layer of texture and sparkle to your tree. I hung mine with a colorful piece of trim. Tinsel comes in a variety of colors so you can customize these to best match your tree. I found 15 ft. long tinsel garlands at Walmart for 99 cents.

Supplies:

  • Thin tinsel garland
  • Foam balls (I used 2" and 3" balls)
  • Colorful ribbon or trim
  • Hot glue

Step 1: Start by adding a dab of hot glue to the top of a foam ball. Press the tinsel into it. Begin wrapping the tinsel around the ornament, adding more hot glue as you go. Make sure to wrap it tightly so none of the white foam shows through.

Step 2: Once you have covered the ball with tinsel cut a length of ribbon and make a loop. Glue the loop to the top of the ball with hot glue. I added a gold push pin on top to make it extra secure (and pretty!).

Step 3: Make a bunch of these to hang on your tree. So easy and so fun!
