With the help of a shadow box and four cans, I now can find all those little packages and packets of food I had all over the kitchen!

I have a really big pantry. But it's shared space for plastic ware, things I am selling, and more. So when I got tired of not finding things in drawers, in cupboards and such, I did this.

I took four veggie cans for support. The ones in the back had food in them so I balanced the weight on the front ones with rocks. I wanted them all to be stable.

I had been meaning to do something amazing with this shadow box...we have all been there...and as it turned out that is just what I did.

It occurred to me that the largest box area should be in the back for the biggest things. So I flipped it around. This box is 13" by 2" by 17". The bottom of the box has a little lip around it so I was able to set the box over the cans so they wouldn't slide around if bumped.

I sat the box on top of the cans and went to work filling it. It was like everything I had in my kitchen fit perfectly in these spaces. I love this and have found it so very useful I wanted to share.

I have gravy mix, snack bars, coconut oil packets, instant cereal, broth mix, salad dressing, apple cider drinks and even gelatin mixes. All in one place and so easy to get to!! You can find these shadow boxes in a lot of cool thrift stores.

Why do you need to raise the cans to raise the shelf? Why can't it just sit on the shelf?

I don't understand why you elevated it. You didn't put anything under it so I was confused.

What a clever idea! You worked with what you had and it worked out very well.

Thank you very much. I do try and use things a second time. I just did a shadow box I can't post till after the first of the year, but it's all things I had here in the house, except the Plexiglas cover. But watch for it! With the holidays here, it will probably be around the 14th. Have a great Christmas!!

If you read the comments on this question I think everyone agreed it was for more space. I have done this in my craft room and pantry. I now have jams and fake sugars. I hope this helps.
