I knew I would be making a trip to my vacation rental on the gulf coast so when I saw this cute tic tac toe I knew I had to give it a new life. One thing families find time for is board games, something to do with being on vacation. I try to keep bringing in new family activities.

Here was the basic black tic tac toe board box and the metallic O’s and X’s that had faded and turned yellow, a couple had to be glued back together.

icon There was no damage to the actual board game box so I was able to just lightly sand with my sanding block and Smooth out any chips in corners. I wiped it down and let dry before my chalk paint

Annie Sloan light blue chalk paint

I was able to do two coats of Annie Sloan light blue chalk paint and had great coverage. Didn’t need a primer and I planned on using a clear coat for durability.

Repaired O’s and X’s

While my blue paint was drying I lightly sanded out any glued areas to smooth and get ready for paint. I used a rustoleum metallic spray paint and got rid of the faded gold letters.

I took a light gray acrylic paint and put dry brush strokes over the top to age and make it beachy before I clear coated. I put the name and webpage address in my Cricut and applied vinyl letters prior to clear coating.

Name and web address to remind my guests

Here is the final redo, it looks like I had it custom made for my vacation rental with personalized writing. I love that it has a new life down south and the guests will get many hours of pleasure.
