Upcycled Valentine's Day Decor - Trashy House Tour

I guess I am getting more sentimental or something because I have never really decorated my house for Valentines day. To be honest I think there were a few years that I didn't even get out the Christmas decorations. But now that my house has some Valentine decorations I am already thinking about what to do for St Patrick's Day. I am planning to do full tutorials on all of these projects but for now I will just provide a quick overview.

I have four different areas that I decorated this year. These items are are on my dish cabinet in the dinning room. The "Love" cube boxes are made from cracker and cereal boxes and then paper mache'.

To decorated the boxes I added the words Love and Kiss and also some photographs.

To make my silly puffy frame I used some scrap cardboard some white plastic grocery bags and the foil plastic seal from our coffee cans. The grocery bags are cut into small squares and then glued to the cardboard frame.

The last piece in this display is the cookie sheet message board. To start I took an old cookie sheet and spray painted it with silver paint. To make the message and the decorative hearts I used rusted tin can lids, cut them to shape and then painted and stenciled them.

The same process was used to make a similar decoration for our metal wine rack. The pieces are all held in place with magnets so they are very easy to move around.

This heart shaped box is made from scrap cardboard and the confetti paper is fan folded book pages that have been cut into strips and then dyed in a pink color to match the box.

The last display is on the mantel. The puffy balls and heart shape are made with the same technique as the puffy frame. The red color is from an old plastic table cloth that I used as a tree skirt for Christmas and the Cats used it for a clawing toy so when I cut it into squares half the work was already done for me.

To make the candle sticks I used some dole fruit cups, creamer cups, a spool and some other found objects.

And last we have my twisted valentine tree made from empty pie tins. I used pliers to twist and shape the tree and then cut out the hearts shapes and embossed words onto the hearts.
