How to Apply White Wax to Furniture

Do Dodson Designs decided to use Best Dang Wax in White on her furniture instead of using whitewash!

What would you say if I told you that white wax created a whitewashed look on furniture in one easy step? I was totally shocked at the results!

This dresser was given to me from a local lady and we share the love of making old new again. She told me that day, “I just know you can make it beautiful again.” It would be a challenge!

The first thing I did was to remove the old varnish from the antique dresser using an Orbital Sander. This made the job quick and easy. We used a heat gun to loosen up the veneer. A hammer and a paint scraper were used to pry the veneer away from the top of the dresser. Before I applied the wax, I cleaned the raw wood.

The next part was so quick and easy it blew my mind! With long brush strokes (working with the wood grain) I applied a thin, even layer of the Best Dang Wax in White with the wax brush over the raw wood making sure to work it in all the cracks and gaps.

I allowed the white wax to dry for about 30 minutes and then buffed it with a soft white cloth. The prep of the wood was the hardest part of this whole makeover. Look how gorgeous this is!

I hope this has inspired you to try white wax on your furniture makeovers!
