If you are wondering how to achieve the new farmhouse style trend that is taking over I have compiled a few tips for your kitchen. These tips are low budget, simple tips can help you transform your kitchen into a farmhouse inspired kitchen. You can have a farmhouse kitchen by adding a nice combination of white, wood, black metal and greenery. Here are a few areas you can update in your kitchen to get this look.

1. Create Open Shelves

Without having to do construction and lose too much of your wall cabinet space, you can simply achieve that open shelf look by taking off one of your cabinet doors on either side of your cooktop.  You will need to patch and paint the holes left from the door as well as the inside of the cabinet, and add two or three, 2” thick wood shelves.

2. Display Your Plates

Keep your display items simple. The best way to have your plates on display is by purchasing a nice inexpensive set of white plates, bowls and kitchen accessories here and there. You can add a pop of color here and there or add some nice small potted plants or herbs that you use in your recipes. This brings me to my next tip - see below.

3. Add Greenery To Your Space

You can add some small live potted plants, or even some herbs you may use throughout the week to add some color to your space. You can add them on the counter, on open shelves or even as a centerpiece on your island or kitchen table.

4. Hang A Gallery Wall

If you have a wall available in your kitchen free of any cabinetry or appliance you can use it for a gallery wall. This is a wall you can add multiple pieces of different sizes. Try and map out your display on the floor in front of your wall this way you can make sure it fits the size of wall and the layout looks good.

5. Install Iron Lights

Changing out your light fixtures to black iron lights is a great way to change the look of the space completely. Just changing the lights alone will make the space feel like a whole new kitchen. You can find some affordable black metal light fixtures that will not break the bank.

6. Add A Wood Kitchen Table

Adding a wood table is the perfect touch to achieving that farmhouse kitchen you have been dreaming up. Find a table that fits your space and look.
