Pine Country Shelf Goes Jewelry Display

You have all seen them, the classic 80's pine country shelves. I have one for each of my daughters that they used to display their collections growing up. But it is now the 2000's and time for them to be given new life. Watch how this one goes from old and drab to teal and fab jewelry display holder.

Here is the solid pine shelf, neglected with stickers stuck on it and missing pegs lost thru the years. Time for a good scrub with warm soapy water after the stickers were carefully removed with orange cleaner.

Once dry it was painted a gorgeous teal from General Finishes called key west blue. To keep it vintage feeling, Fusion Mineral Paint ageing dark wax was added to further deepen the teal green.

New pegs were painted and glued in along with heavy duty d rings affixed to the back. Chicken wire was put on the back of the two large openings for hanging jewelry like earrings and pins.

Ten cup hooks were screwed into the two large vertical spaces for hanging necklaces. There are so many places to store and hang loads of jewelry, scarves and trinkets; a perfect repurpose to a boring dated plain pine shelf.
