How to Clean Tarnish From Silver and Silver Plating
Shopping at flea markets and thrift stores is one of my favorite things to do, which leaves me with some dirty, tarnished finds. Sometimes that aged patina is fine, but shiny is good too. After doing some research, I came up with a recipe for Cleaning Tarnish from Silver and Silver Plating. The full tutorial is on the blog.

When cleaning silver and silver plating, you first must know what material you are actually dealing with. Often, there are markings on the bottom.
A combination of aluminum, baking soda, salt and boiling water causes a chemical reaction that cleans the tarnish from silver and silver plating.
The difference is amazing!
This piece was pewter covered with silver plating which gives it a difference finish than the other piece.

I used tanx to clean a silver water pitcher. Now most of the tarnish is gone it looks like it has some type of water spots. Not on the entire piece just one area. Any suggestions?
