Home Improvement - Building Our Home - Landscape Before And After

This is our home we designed and helped build in 2006. It is nestled in a development where there is lots of open prairie and lovely valley vistas. We had a vision for a beautifully landscaped yard with lots of pretty flowers and a pretty green lawn. However, realizing our vision became a challenge because of the soil - lots of clay - and multiple limestone rocks that had to be excavated before we could even think of growing anything. I hope you enjoy the tour. We've planted lots of hard wood trees - paper birch, river birch, sugar maple, cherry, ash, white pine, blue spruce and dogwood. We've also added many varieties of flowers - lilac, cone flowers, lilies, daffodils, peonies, lavender, hostas spirea, dahlias. It's been a lot of work and a lot of fun. We've come a long way! We will be adding water features to both the front and back yard. Stay tuned for after pictures of the backyard.
