Cottage Revival

Our 1950's beach cottage gets a low cost head to toe makeover using color and texture.
I added floor to ceiling bead board, fresh paint in fun coastal colors, refinished the existing birch floors, installed recessed lighting and updated the kitchen.
The cottage was furnished with my yard sale finds and DIY projects.

Fresh cedar shingles and some color give this cottage the seacoast style it was lacking
Adding some rope to this plain lamp for a nautical feel
Note to our guests!
My palette art
Reclaimed frames house children's artwork
The glass table makes a comeback in a small space, adding size without bulk
Finally found a use for that crumbling old fence!
Open shelving for items we use every day
Anchor Hocking antique glassware in blues
The small subway tile installed to the ceiling adds some needed height, brightness and texture
Galvanized lights were affordable and fun by the beach
I kept the interior/exterior porch windows for some interest
I chose to dress the plate glass window and keep the filtered light using the New Orleans style shutters for inspiration
Love these little hinged windows
The 70's deck... enough said.
