Learn how to build a circle cutting jig for the bandsaw. This is a simple shop project that will make cutting circles a breeze!

Watch the how to make video or continue reading for the written tutorial.

I needed a simple way to cut accurate circles fast so I built a circle cutting jig for the bandsaw. My band saw jig uses an adjustable sliding dovetail to create circles of all sizes. The only limitation is the length of the sliding dovetail.

The jig is essentially two pieces of 1/2" plywood glued on top of each other. The sliding dovetail is not glued in place. I used some playing cards as a spacer when gluing the top to the bottom. You want the sliding dovetail to more freely.

I also attached a scrap piece of red oak to the bottom side of the jig to act as a stop block and also added a piece to go run inside of the miter slot on the bandsaw.

To lock the sliding dovetail in place, I used a threaded insert and star knob.

Cutting perfect wooden circles are a breeze now with my bandsaw circle cutting jig.

You are amazing. You put a lot of men to shame. Seems like you've been working with power tools for some time. I make a lot of my own jigs. Table saw, band saw, miter saw. drill press, routers, clamping. I'm in love.
