Learn how to paint a lamp and update your current home decor! This is the best DIY home decor idea and it will help you update your home on a budget! This amazing transformation was created by Rustic Orchard Home. There’s no need to spend a lot of money updating your home decor when you can re-use what you already have!

In today’s tutorial, I’m going to show you how to paint a lamp – YES, a lamp. It’s so simple and makes a huge difference. Let’s get started! Here's the before of the lamp before its painted. Use Dixie Belle Paint White Lightning, Drop Cloth, and Gator Hide.

First, you will need to do a little bit of prep work. Be sure to clean your lamp with White Lightning so that your paint will adhere to the surface properly. Then, tape off all the areas on the lamp that you don’t want to cover with paint.

Next, use your Dixie Belle Round Paint Brush to apply a coat of the color Drop Cloth to the lamp. Let this coat dry and apply a second coat, if needed.

PRO TIP – Lightly mist your brush before you begin painting for a more professional finish. Watch this previously recorded Facebook live video to see Rustic Orchard Home paint!

Finally, once both coats are dry, apply a coat of Dixie Belle Paint Gator Hide top coat. Gator Hide is a water repellent, very durable finish. Then you can remove the painter’s tape and use your “new to you” lamp! Do you think you'll try out this painted project in your home? My MIL has a couple of lamps that I might "aquire", and I might paint them black, or at least dark rustic color, so its whatever your taste is. My MIL did try to give them to me but they are def not my style as is. This gives me ideas to be crafty and not have to buy new lamps...

I love this idea. I had a pair of turquoise ceramic lamps from the 50s that I updated with krylon textured paint to give them a stone like, white finish. They turned out great
