Rescue of a Very Sad Old Table

This poor table had lived a good life but it wasn't ready for the dumpster. It has a new life now!
This is going to be a big project.
This poor old thing was just crying to be given one more chance. So here we go...lots of years of use and abuse. It had spent the last several years in a basement workshop and was headed for the trash.
Holes on the top and bigger ones on the side.
These holes were where a tool of some sort had been attached to the top. What you can't see are the 4 quarter-size holes on the side.
Top sanded and legs stained.
The top has been sanded and the holes on the top and side were filled. The legs were stained and polyurethaned.
Kraft paper decoupage.
The brown paper decoupage treatment with a couple of coats of polyurethane added.
Cork and paper on the sides.
Cork was put on the sides along with more brown paper. The holes on the side were pretty big and I didn't want to tempt small fingers so I put cork on the inside also.
World map top.
An antique map poster was added to the top after the decoupage brown paper treatment was finished.
After several coats of polyurethane and some upholstery tacks for accent...Voila! A fabulous desk for the office.
