A mounth ago a friend ask me a kind of simple stand to raise up his dogs' bowls ,feed them and make to them easyer to eat.

Having bowls on the floor could cause different problem to your pets like arthritis, because the forced themselves to eat bending on the bowl. We don't know, but sometimes this action could be very painful for them especially if they are old.

Other problems connecting to keep the bowls on the floor , concern the possibility to contract moulds and bacteria by the animal feed that is much more exposed if closer to the floor.

After this preamble, i don't mean to be the new The Incredible Dr. Pol icon , but my friend said me this and all seems to be plausible so i decided to give him an help.

Two dogs i'm talking about are JINO and JENNY.

As always ,it been asked to me a simple thing but i liked this work so much and i've put in it much more passion and added some extras features.

I guess that who has already a dog knows these things but i want to share this simple build at the same time.

Enjoy this and greats from Italy.icon

Sorry for my scholastic english!icon

This project starts with some poplar plywood scraps which i fabricate the two sides of the stand. It has two height levels because Jino is bigger than Jenny so i cut the sides 20 cm for Jenny and 25 cm for Jino.

To keep the sides togheter i make some strips of 5 cm wide and 40 cm long each to connect the two sides and make a sturdy base frame.

Assmbled eveything with wood screws and wood glue.

After made the frame , i cut two piece of scrap ply to make the front and back of the stand and secure them with wood glue and 18 gauge nail gun.

Here i add a supplementary strip in the middle the make sturdy the structure in the bottom section, avoiding to use an entire panel to secure it, that could make the stand too much heavy.

In this part i close all the nail's holes with wood sealant and add the bigger stand top secured with glue and screws.

Add the second and little top, i sand everything down to 220 grit sand paper.

Than to cover all the edge joints and wood screws heads i've decided to cut some little strips and use them as a crown moulding then glue them on every edge.

I decide also to paint the mouldings in a different colour to give the pieces a touch of distinctive look and after have painted them , glued on the edges of the stand.

After painted in a dark walnut colour the stand and then have glued the mouldings ,painted in grey,i realize with a piece of 6 mm plywood and a coping saw some cut out letters that form the two name of two dogs and then paint them in white to stand out from the dark colour of the base.

Then i attach them with pins nail and some drops of wood glue.

Set on the floor and feed the two adorable dogs throw on that so i guess they like iticon
