I love the ease and creative coloring of glass with finger nail polish. Turn your plain clear or solid colored candle sticks and vases bright with holiday or spring colors!

For economical reasons I learned to start with small containers or candle stick holders. Choose any glass container. I have used plain cups and saucers and added colored wax and wick for a candle, mugs, bud vases, anything that you want to cover with finger nail polish.

I found a cart of polish on sale for 50 cents a bottle at Walmart, but you can use any polish from the dollar stores or any inexpensive colors. I usually use 3 colors for accent. You can use as many as you like. I chose purple, dark pink and light pink for this project for colors associated with spring and even Easter.

Fill a disposable bowl with water. I use faucet water. This is a bowl, but I have used long flat disposable containers for taller glass containers. You just have to be able to roll the vase around the top. Here I added the second color...

and the third color. You see it floats on the water so you do not have to dip deep. Be careful not to get it inside if it is a cup you will drink from later.

Just roll it in the floating polish to cover it with a marble design.

I added folds of paper towel under the wet containers so the polish would not bleed through to the table surface.

Three small holders I did today. Won't these look pretty in a table center piece for the holidays?

Have fun and experiment with various vessels. This is a great project to involve upper elementary or middle school kids, grand kids and friends. It wipes off your hands if you do not use gloves, but you have to wipe it while wet before it dries.
