Adding Planks to a Kitchen Island

I needed a little extra length to my farmhouse style kitchen island - and had just enough planks left over to do just that. The problem was that this is an antique table - in order not to damage any of the original table top I had to get a little resourceful. Not one screw was placed on the table itself.
Once it was done I painted a driftwood effect to make it look like aged wood. It's exactly what I was going for. (It's big enough now to add a small prep station as well.) I feel like I should be hosting my own food show now LMHO! More details and photos on the blog
We used brackets to hold the planks together
Added molding on either side where the real table top ends. This also reinforced the planks
View from underneath. You can see how the molding fits snugly against the table top holding it in place.
Ready to paint!
The driftwood technique I used is detailed on the blog.
Voila - done ! This project took 2 hours - tops Have a great day all!
