I was junking through an antique shop and found lots of coffee bean sacks lying on the floor for $5.00 each. I purchased 6. I did not know what I wanted to make with them. Then it dawned on me they would make great pillows for my son's bed. So here is a easy guide on how to make coffee sack pillows. You can wash them lighly and let air dry so they don't shrink.

Supplies Needed

  • burlap coffee sacks
  • fabric scissors
  • sewing machine
  • heavy-duty thread needle
  • heavy-duty thread
  • pillow insert or old pillows

Step 1: Take the burlap coffee sacks and turn them inside out. Cut one side open and place a pillow inside.

Step 2: Pin the sides so the burlap coffee bag is the same size of the pillow. Take pillow out and sew the pinned side with a sewing machine and leave the top open. Turn the coffee bean bag to its proper side. Place the pillow inside and sew the top by hand with a large needle and heavy-duty thread.

They turned out great and my son loved them. I think I will go back and buy more burlap coffee bags to make some other cool projects! There are so many fun projects you can do with them. You can frame them and also make shopping bags.
