Patina Pennies on Letters
I had some letters I was going to hang up in our home but they needed a little something. I love pennies so I decided to try making patina pennies and adhering them to my letters to give it what I felt was missing.
Wash Your Pennies -
Wash your pennies with Dawn and baking soda to clean off the oils and dirt on them.
Drain, Rinse, & Dry -
Drain the soapy baking soda water, rinse the pennies off, and let them dry.
1:1 Ratio of Vinegar and Salt
Mix together equal parts of vinegar and salt so that it coats all of the pennies. Let the pennies soak for 30 minutes.
Drain out the mixture but don't rinse.
Place the pennies on a baking sheet and let them dry completely. You can add more salt over them as they're drying if you wish. Pennies will patina at different rates and colors.
Once they're dry they are ready to use.
I had these plain letters that I wanted to spruce up.
I placed my pennies onto the letters.
I hot glued the pennies into place.
Then you can hang them up in your home.

This is perfect! I’m doing this to a big letter I have in my hallway! It will totally fit in with other parts of my house, like the penny floor in my powder room!

WOW, what a creative idea. Have seen pennies used in many different ways, but not like this. This would make a great birthday gift for grandchildren. LOVE IT.
