Dollar Store Bowl

Here's a wonderful and quick tutorial for an industrial farmhouse bowl. All you need is a metal basket (the ones that are sold as hanging planters work well) and a round wood disk.

I got the wire hanging basket from the dollar tree and the round wood disk from Michael’s.

Begin by removing the chains from the basket using a pair of pliers. They came off pretty easily, just a bit of bending and wiggling, and it's done!

Then I dry brushed some paint onto the wood disk. I used the color Warm Milk by BlackBerry House.

Then I stained it with some Minwax wood finish. (I did this outside!)

The next thing I did was I spray painted the hardware black to match the basket.

Then I centered the wire basket in the middle of my round disk.

And then I screwed the basket onto the disk.

That's it! It's really simple but super unique and lovely.

I added some decorative lemons for some sweet farmhouse decor.

The first one was inspired by Kirklands and I believe there’s was $15 and I made mine for $3.57, what do you think?

Shelley this is a really nice idea, thank you for sharing.

May I ask the name of the hardware you used to screw the basket to the wood??

I would also like to add my two cents to your build. If the basket ribs are too far apart you can weave pretty yarn or jute or sisal or paper rope in and out to make a barrier so that the smaller fruit does not fall out. Thinner copper wire would look nice too. You can do a 2 inch strip or start from the bottom and go halfway up. Again thanks :)

I had a question about the hardware, which you’ve answered in ano post. Wire fasteners in electrical hardware. Thanks! No other questions but I would like to add. I have a taller, not so wide vessel that I bought years ago. I’m sure more than $25. It’s pretty heavy but this creation would work better for me! Thanks again for sharing. I’ll look forward to more DIYs from you!
