A vertical wall garden makes an interesting approach to a new view of gardening. The project is easily made and is customized to what you would like to grow. Our wall garden was made for succulents

Drain holes

Drill some holes in the bottom to allow water to drain

The Frame

This was made up of two 12" and two 18" Ceder 2x4's.

Back of box

The back of the box was covered with ceder fence pickets

landscape fabric

Staple inside the box landscape fabric

Fill with soil

Put in the potting soil. Make sure you pack the soil down and level it to the top of the box

wire mesh

Cut a piece of wire mesh for the top and stable it to the box

Adding the Frame

Using fence pickets ripped to 3 1/2" wide, cut two 21" and two 18" and put 45 degree angle's on each section. Secure the frame to the box. I put two eye hooks on the top of the box to use for hanging.

Putting in the plants

Cut areas in the mesh to add your plants. We used succulents. Using wire cutters, cut out areas for the plants. We used a 3/8" dowel to assist in getting the plants placed into the soil. In the areas where there were no plants, we filled the space with moss.

The finished project. Now waiting for the plants to grow

Love this idea--but do you know of a way to put Fake chicken wire or something like chicken wire that is not so hard to handle(on my hands) as the chicken wire??? I am making earring holders and putting wire on Picture frames w decorations on top wire. I am asking if anyone knows of a product that is not wire but appears to be Chicken wire type look???
