I picked up this sturdy wooden vintage lamp stand for a few pounds at a junk & antique store in town. I really wanted to bring another source of light into the front room so it was perfect for a creative upgrade!

Old lamp stand

I wanted the colours to be green and blue and decided to decoupage with some left over from another project thin cotton fabric squares.

Fabric for decoupage

I picked out a range of tones to keep the blue green turquoise colour palette but found a contrasting designs mix. So spits stripes florals etc that compliment an give the depth of textured I desired .

Mod Podge the base

I spread some matte Mod Podge onto the base with sponge applicator .

Cover the fabric either Mod Podge

Once the fabric Suarez are stuck down I usually coat over with more Mod Podge to create a stiffer protective bond.

Overlap the fabric under the stand

i make sure the fabric is neatly folded and glued over the edge and secured underneath the stand.

I continue to cover the base in alternating colours and patterns slightly overlapping each piece and making sure no gaps.

Mod Podge sealant over the top

I Continue up the stand wrapping the fabrics and patching it in alternating shades and textures.

Making decisions on which fabric to stick nex

its so fun to see the transformation an layering up of colour.

contrasting patterns

I keep on with the fabric patching all the way up the stand.

Wrapping fabric and pasting pod Podge

At last I position the last piece of fabric at the top.

Finishing the stand with fabric all the way u

I’m so thrilled how colourful and fresh the stand looks now!
