Mountain Cottage Kitchen Reno

I was so excited when we viewed our cottage for the first time because the kitchen was SOOOOOOO ugly, I knew there was no saving it and we could start from scratch!

There were many projects in the kitchen and since this is a weekend cottage, it has taken us a couple of years to do this reno.

We still have a few projects left to do, but the list is getting shorter!

Here's what the kitchen looked like before we started the reno!

If you notice, none of the drawer fronts were the same HEIGHT!

I couldn't put anything in the cabinets because they were so gross, even after I scrubbed them.

Before we even started the reno, we realized it would be easier to reno a closet next to the kitchen and build a vintage style pantry because we could use it as a mini kitchen during the many months of kitchen reno.

Here's the after of that closet! It holds a lot!

The kitchen cart is removable so it can be used in the main part of the kitchen, if needed.

I was so excited when we finally got to kitchen demo day!

After we painted the walls, we decided to install a plank ceiling.

Cabinets came next, then wood countertop, then backsplash,

This is our weekend house, so getting to this point took many, many months.

After all that, my husband built some open shelves.

Not really practical for a home that you live in, but perfect for a weekend cottage!

A custom range hood came next!

There isn't a dining room in the cottage and we needed more storage, so I designed and my husband built a banquette.

It's been a long couple of years for the kitchen reno to get to this point, but it's been worth it.

What colour did you paint the cabinets

I love your new kitchen and it inspires me to keep going on our kitchen renovation. I see a blue stripe at the top of the cabinet (side). Can you tell me more about that? It’s a great little pop of color.

The final results are awesome, looks just neat! I wanna try to create something similar in 3d. Do you mind if I do that? Also, what is this style called?

I also have this idea to remake and make updates to our kitchen, but our kitchen is very small, so I rest indecisive about what can I do. If someone has an inspiration, it would be great.

The kitchen at our mountain cottage is small. Stop by to see it. We . have several projects on it and had to use the space wisely.

Start with your sink and appliances and work everything else around it.

Stop by the blog and enter " mountain cottage kitchen" in the search box in the right column.
