In this tutorial, you'll learn how to whitewash your brick fireplace using a very simple method! Whitewashing is cost-effective and time-effective, and it completely changes the look of an outdated brick fireplace. For this project, all you need is some paint and a paint brush to get started.

Step 1: Create the whitewash

To make the whitewash, mix together one part water with one part paint using a paint stick. You'll notice the paint becomes much thinner. This is what you want!

I used more of a grey wash for my project. Instead of using the typical one part white paint and one part water, I decided to add in gray paint into the mixture as well.

My whitewash mixture ended up being 1/4 gray paint, 1/4 white paint, and 1/2 water.

Step 2: Apply the whitewash to your brick using a paint brush.

I think it’s better to use a paint brush instead of a paint roller because you have more control of how much paint goes on each brick.

Step 3: Apply a second coat of the whitewash mixture to random bricks

Doing this gives your brick a more realistic whitewash look.

That's it! You're done. It's a super simple project but makes such a difference.
