A Recent walk to the local country park got me inspired with nature’s beautiful colours shapes and textures so this fallen tree branch was the next transformation!

Branch

I gave it a tidy up and got rid of flakes and bark that were loose.

I choose some suitable colourful chunky large holed beads from what already have. This is a huge tub of old beads which I’ve collected along my creative journey. I often pick up the unsold jewellery that's sold off cheaply into packets of beads at my local charity shop.

Bucket of beads to choose from

I gather some differing lengths of cut green garden twine as my chosen string. It is just what I had laying around and seemed tough and right thickness plus I think a nice colour for this project.

Knitting Green garden twine

I start by knotting the twine at the end of the length to make a secure base for the first bead. I choose bigger beads that would help weight the lengths then gradually adding smaller ones towards the top.

Adding beads to the twine

I make sure to knot at approximately similar intervals so the piece looks balanced.

Adding beads evenly spaced

When all the lengths are beaded and ready to attach evenly to the branch.

I tie them at various positions along the length of the wood so it is balanced and looks how I want it.

Tie string firmly to the branch

I continue to tie the beaded strings to the branch adjusting them as necessary and tidy up the knots and untidy pieces of string with sharp scissors.

Knotting strings of beads to a branch

When happy that all secure neat and tidy is time to put a nail in somewhere to hang it up. I chose to do this above my pond where I have a overhead canopy but it would look good in any window area where it catches the light and breeze.

Hammering nail in ready to hang.

I have added a length of twine and knotted each end of branch to place on the nail.

and so so beautiful twinkling and glinting with the colours and light through some of the glass beads.

I am delighted with the result which was so much fun to make.

Super pretty, especially in your setting. I have had jute string mobiles that fell apart when the string rotted. Maybe weaving nylon line through the jute would prevent that?

Have the Koa tried jumping out of the water for it ?

That area is so serene and beautiful. Your bead work came out lovely and fits right in with everything else around it....beautiful.
