I turned an old silverware box that had seem better days into pretty storage for my jewelry.

I first removed the hardware and the inside lining.

I gave the box a good sanding to remove the deep sratches in the surface.

I decided to paint it with some Folk Art oatmeal chalk paint. I just love this soft neutral color!

I gave it several thin coats.

Once in it was completely dry, I sanded a bit on the edges to give it a distressed look.

Next, I gave it several coats of Behr white wax. I love the combo of the oatmeal color with the white wax.

I put the hardware back on. The outside was completely transformed!

I kept a few of the pieces from the origional lining for templates for the new lining. I cut out pieces of poster board and covered them with some velvet fabric.

I hot glue the new lining in place.

Now it is the perfect place to keep my jewelry! Itnis pretty and functional!
