These adorable sock gnomes are so popular! And easy to make! Grab the kids and jump in!

Grab your supplies...

2 different fuzzy socks

1 plain white sock

2-3 cups of rice

Faux fur fabric

Glue gun w/glue stick

12 inch strip of 20 gauge metal wire

Small rubber bands

Twine/string

Exacto knife

Put 2-3 cups of rice into the white sock (make it bigger or smaller according to your preference).

Pounce the sock so that all rice falls down.

Tie two rubber bands tight at the top. Then take a piece of twine/string and tie it around the rubber bands (this is in case the rubber bands fail over the life of the gnome). Cut off the leftover twine, and then cut off the leftover sock.

Using the glue gun, tac down the little bit of sock so that the top is flat

Now let's make the nose. There are a couple ways to do this, but this is my favorite...

Lay the gnome down on its "back". Scrunch up a pile of rice that forms a nose and tie 2 rubber bands around it to secure, then tie a piece of twine around it, cut off the extra.

Cut the sock you chose for the body right at the heel (under the heal if it's a larger sock). Pull it over the bottom of the gnome so that the "toes" are under the gnome

Now, make the beard. Using the exacto knife, cut the backing only of the fur fabric, in the shape of a triangle about 4-5 inches across, depending on the size of the gnome your making. Cut out a semi circle notch for the nose

Apply hot glue all along the top edge of the beard and position it correctly under the nose

Using hit glue, tac down the body sock to secure it to the body

Using the metal wire, bend the top to form a circle and bend the bottom up. Put a hot glue dot on the ends so that they don't poke through the sock hat. Push the bottom of the wire into the gnome and put a dab of hot glue to hold it in place

Take the other sock and pull it over the wire and position it right over the nose and overlapping the beard and body sock. Using hit glue, tac it in place

The sock that I chose is gray with black tipped toes. I took the black tip and tied 2 rubber bands around to form a ball at the top

And that's it! You have an easy sock gnome!

Lots of different versions of these gnomes out there, get creative and have fun!
