I have been looking for a bench for the end of my bed for awhile now. So when I came across this beauty at the thrift store for 25.00 half price 12.50 I was super excited. It was sturdy and had very little damage to it so Let the fun begin!

Wicker sided

It was a dark stain that showed every flaw. So I knew I was going to brighten it up.

Wicker side

Some of the wicker was bulging out but it was a super easy fix. Got out the glue gun and used a butter knife to push back in place. I knew I would be painting it so no worries about glue showing.

Liquid sand and oppps paint

I usually don’t sand to much other then removing the large gouges because I always coat my work with liquid sand it ensures adhesion to any material. I wait 10 minutes and I take oppps gray and go to work on the bench and wicker. It is an aged look so no worries of blemishes.

Adding colors

Adding the color over the wicker hides any imperfections that the hot glue gun might’ve left.

Base coat

Once the first coat is dried I go over and dry brush with my weathered colors

Adding black dry brush

Literally take my chip brush and just Dry brush all over the bench.

Adding more colors

I always use a black color, then go over it with the gray, that over with the white, then add a little rust, and sometimes I’ll add a little blue or whatever the base color is of the room I’m playing with.

Weathering

I did not wanna have to do layers and layers of paint I merely just wanted to whether the look of it and hide all the blemishes underneath in the wood.

Adding glazing

Once I got all my colors applied I went over it with a glazing which gives it a little dimensional look. Then I went ahead and went over the entire thing with a clear coat of polyurethane because I knew it was going to get a lot of where my husband will be putting on and off his boots in this guy.

Love the colors

I love the dimensional colors it turned out perfect. This bench will go anywhere in a rustic room at coastal room whatever you want it would look amazing

Added pillows

I Really been having a lot of fun with this weathered dimensional look. This technique is so forgiving if you go over and put too much of one color you can always go back over with your base color and get rid of it. Well there you have it I added a few pillows I love it it’s been a staple in our bedroom my husband was concerned that it was going to be a toe stubber but he loves it now. hope you enjoy let me know what you think.
