Hi friends! I recenttly put together this beautiful table runner to keep on my kitchen table during the holiday season. I used mostly dollar store items and I think it really turned out great!

I first took this dollar store bell outside and spray painted it with Rustoleum hammered paint. It looks a bit aged and rustic now.

Then once the spray paint was dry, I dry brushed some black chalk paint over that.

On to the aging part! I used a matte clear coat and some cinnamon to give the bell some "rust" to make it look even more aged.

How great does the bell look!?

I then used this boxed holiday greenery,

I grabbed these poles and some ribbon too.

With the bell at the top, I think this runner looks amazing!

Don't you agree? I think it's perfect for my table this holiday season.

Here it is placed inside my rustic farmhouse box. I lovehow it turned out!

Gee, doesn’t your brain ever get tired of all the fantastic ideas you come up with? I was wondering if you go to the dollar store with a plan or if you just buy random things, go home and come up with incredibly creative ideas? Sorry about all the questions! When and IF I get an original idea it takes me 3 or 4 trips to Michaels, Joanns or Hobby Lobby before I get everything. That followed by the wrong size, wrong color and the inevitable, “what were you thinking “? ‘Thinking’ being the key word here. Anyway, I think your ideas are amazing and I want to thank you for your generosity in sharing them with those of us who are clueless! Keep it up, and I’ll try to ‘keep up’.

How did you make the poles look like birch branches?

On the cinnamon part - do you put in the clear coat and then sprinkle the cinnamon? Then do you clear coat it again to keep the cinnamon in place?

I’m thinking of using this technique on a chandelier but want to make sure the cinnamon stays in place once added.
