Do you like to make personal DIY gifts? If so, I have the perfect gift for teachers, neighbors, or to take to a party for a gift for the hostess. You can personalize it for any occasion using paint and vinyl decals. It is painted wooden spoons with a mini crate holder for hot cocoa.

Supplies Needed:

Pack of wooden spoons

Mini wooden crate

Spray paint

Painters Tape

Cricut Cutting Machine (or similar) or Vinyl Decals

Permanent vinyl

I started by taping off the end of the spoon that would be painted and get the vinyl words. Make sure you measure how long your words will be so you have enough room. I used aluminum foil to cover the rest of the spoon so I would not get any over spray of paint on it.

I sprayed 2 light coats of Poppy Red by Rust-Oleum on both the mini wooden crate and the ends of the wooden spoons and let dry thoroughly.

I used my Cricut Cutting machine to cut out the words eat, drink, merry, joy, and shine for the spoons. I also cut out the Hot Cocoa lettering with the heart shape. You could also purchase stickers/decals if you do not have a cutting machine.

I used transfer tape and a mini scraper to apply the words to the painted ends of the spoons and to the front of the mini crate. You could probably use a sealer as a finishing step, but I did not.

The mini crate is the perfect size to hold the festive wooden spoons!

You could use any words!

Add a few packets of hot cocoa to the crate and find a cute mug for a winter-themed gift idea! Head to my blog for more DIY gift ideas like this one!
