If, like me, you are fully embracing all of the gorgeous Christmas scents that are available in the form of wax melts, then you will appreciate how messy a job changing the melt can be.

Let me share with you the easiest way to change the melt!

Christmas scented wax melts

Wax melts are a lovely way to add fragrance to your home. There are so many fragrances, but nothing is nicer than the associated smells around Christmas.

1) Cool wax so solid to touch

Let the wax cool so that it is solid in the burning dish.

2) Warm up the burner

Light up the burner and allow the bottom of the wax melt to liquify. It will only take a minute or two. Don't allow the entire wax to melt.

3) Slide the melt

Using a cotton pad to absorb any hot melted wax, slide the wax melt to loosen if from the melting dish. A slight nudge around the sides should do it.

4) Slide the wax whilst still solid

The solidified wax should easily slide around the melting dish. If it isn't moving, give it a little more time.

5) Lift the wax out

Using the cotton pad, remove the wax melt from the melting tray in one solidified piece of wax.

6) Remove any remaining wax

Remove any remaining wax with the cotton pad. The cotton pad should absorb any remaining liquified wax readily.

7) Clean ready for the next melt

The melting dish is now clean and ready for whatever next fragrance you are burning.

Ready for the next fragrance

Always take care that the melted wax doesn't touch your skin as it will be hot. Allow the melt too cool before disposing of it in a bin. Don't tip it down a drain. Don't allow children to use the wax melt burner.

Fridge or freezer works for me too, then I just pop it out with a teaspoon. I would like to know, has anyone reused them in some way? Like adding scented oil to them or making candles?

The freezer works best on all types of wax, candles included, just freeze them solid, tap them upside down on the counter and out they come

You can save the used wax clumps and make emergency candles
