Want to make a small tray to corral items on a counter or table top? We used peel and stick tile and some small pieces of wood to make this really simple table top tray!
Trace the tile onto the wood to determine the exact area that you need to cut out to make the tile fit flush. Since peel and stick tile does not use grout, you need it to fit without gaps.
Use a palm router to carve out the inside of your tray area. It needs to be the exact depth of the tile - 1/4".
We coated the whole thing with cutting board oil. This is a food safe finish and just makes the wood look richer and more finished.
Peel the backing off of the tile. This is Aspect brand peel and stick tile from Home Depot.
Line the tile up with your opening and carefully press it in place.
Press the tile in firmly. We used tile cutters to cut pieces in half to fill the gaps in the pattern.
Place small items on your tray. We use it in the kitchen but it could also work for perfume or something similar. Or, make it larger for larger items!
