Spring Decor

I'm ready for Spring and this easy peasy, totally inexpensive project is giving me the Spring vibes!!

I'm using this as a centerpiece but it would look lovely on a shelf or mantle too!

These pots come in a pack of two at the Dollar Tree.

These birds were $2.50 each at Dollar General. But you could easily shop your local thrift stores for those nick nacks!

First I gave my pots and birds a quick coat of black paint

They look like Halloween decor all black 🤔

Let them dry a few minutes then the fun begins.

Start smearing your plaster (dry wall compound) all over your pots inside and out.

Do the same with the birds or whatever other spring creature you like.

Let dry for a few hours then sand them up to your liking. I made sure to get all the rough parts smoothed down.

I then gave them a quick paint job using Fusion Mineral paint in "Champlain". It took the stark white away.

I also gave the birds a coat of paint and colored their eyes in black. And the lines of their beaks.

When they were dry I gave everything a generous coat of poly in a matte finish.

While the poly was still wet, I dabbed some cinnamon on the pots in a few areas to give them any even more weathered look.

I loved this project and I hope you do too!!

This is adorable! What are the birds actually sitting on? It doesn’t look like the pots.
