Use paper towels as a template on your fabric.

I wanted to try making DIY un paper towels as an alternative to the regular paper towels I use. These re-usable rags made from cotton fleece can replace some of the following uses of paper towels:

  • Drying hands
  • Wiping up spills
  • Napkins
  • Cleaning

Cut the fabric using fabric scissors.

Lay out one yard of fleece fabric and use a role of paper towels you already have as a template to determine the size of the towels.

Wash and dry the fabric before you begin.

Cut the fabric into rectangles. Each yard should get you about 20 towels.

Sew around the edge of each of the towels

Using a sewing machine sew a simple edge around each of the cloth squares. You can use any stitch you like. Try to get as close to the edge as you can without going over.

How to store your unpaper towels

Keep them folded in a basket or wrap them around an empty cardboard paper towel tube for easy access. Wash and dry like normal.
