Simple Box Trim

For my master bedroom refresh I’m creating some simple box trim that will completely elevate this space. This project is super easy that anyone can do!

BEFORE

Heres my master bedroom before. My plans to refresh this space include: Adding some simple box trim/moulding to the back wall, swapping out the table lamps for wall sconces, restyling the nightstands, and putting a duvet cover on my naked comforter for a more finished look.

Cut your trim to size

Your box dimensions will vary depending on your wall size and preference. I used a miter saw to cut my trim pieces but you can also have your local home improvement store make your cuts or use a hand saw.

Miter the corners

I mitered the corners of my trim pieces for the cleanest look. This involves simply cutting each end at coordinating 45 degree angles.

Nail the trim to the wall!

Heres the fun part! Using a brad nailer (or hammer and nails) you will attach to the wall. Make sure each piece is level all the way across and down.

Finishing work

For the most professional look, take the time to caulk around the inside and outside of your box where it meets the wall. As well as filling any nail holes in the wood with wood putty or spackle. Finally, paint the trim the color of your choosing!

Suggested materials:
  • Trim style of choice

How did you determine the size of the boxes? I read it depends on the wall size but is there a guide to use to determine the measurements for your specific wall size?

I 💛💛💛 that piece over your bed. So cool and unique. Did you make it?
