If you love topiaries but struggle with keeping real ones alive, this DIY is for you!!

Cut some boxwood from your yard (or a friend's) and grab a few items you probably already have on hand and get started on this simple project.

You can begin this project with a topiary that you already have (that didn't make it) or use a flower pot you have on hand or purchase a new container.

If you begin with a new pot (not an existing topiary), glue floral foam into the bottom of the flower pot and add your stalk/stick/dowel rod and glue into the foam. If you are using an existing stalk/pot skip this step. Cut pieces of the boxwood and begin attaching them with the floral tape a few at a time until you reach desired fullness.

Make sure you get the fullness you want.

Finish up your topiary by concealing the floral tape with sheet moss.

I made this topiary several weeks ago and it still looks great! The boxwood dried very nicely. I have been told you can spray a preservative to make them last even longer, but haven't tried that yet.

Suggested materials:
  • Flower pot   (had on hand)
  • Plant stem or stick   (had on hand or gather from yard)
