If you love Iron Orchid Design moulds and an old world finish follow me as I create it using acrylic caulking molds and paint.

Find a chest

First step is to clean it well so the paint will adhere.

Emboss a stencil on top

To add dimension and texture to the top, embossing paste was applied over a tin tile stencil using an offset pallet knife.

Tadaa

Lift the stencil to reveal the raised design. Let dry well.

Add IOD acrylic moulds

Cut IOD acrylic moulds to size. See my post on how to create these acrylic calking moulds

Cut them to fit

Acrylic caulking moulds are easily cut to fit

Glue moulds on

Using a premium glue brushed on the back apply to the chest

Once in place let dry

Now they are all in place let them dry well before painting

Ready to Paint

All parts are dry and ready to paint

Paint adding salt wash to the mix

To add further texture to achieve the faux stone/plaster look I added some Saltwash to the  Jolie Paint's rose quartz paint.

Layer on other colors

Next dry brush on Jolie's french grey and palace white to get a mottled look

Add dark waxes

The entire piece was sealed with Jolie clear wax then brown and white wax added for additional depth.

Add some sparkle

Using my finger and Jolie's gilding wax hit the highest points to add some sparkle
