This is an easy DIY Mother's Day gift from the kids. A decoupage flower pot using old upcycled shirts!

This is such a fun and easy project for the kids to work on. The whole family will get to enjoy these pots for years to come.

Materials List

  • Worn out shirt cut into 9"x1" strips
  • Terracotta clay pot
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Mod podge and spray adhesive
  • Foam brush
  • Soil and wildflowers

Attach Shirt Strips To Clay Pot

Use the spray adhesive (or mod podge) to attach strips of shirt to the clay pot.

The strips should reach from the inner lip to the bottom of your pot.

Apply the glue to the pot one section at a time so it doesn't dry out before you get to it.

Keep Going

Glue strips the entire way around the pot. Keep on going, keep on going, almost there! icon

Seal The Outside Of The Pot

Once you're done gluing the strips of shirt to the pot, you'll want to seal the outside.

Allow the adhesive to dry before sealing. While the adhesive is drying, why not make a few more pots?

After the adhesive has dried, use Mod Podge and a foam brush to seal the outside of the fabric.

Add Soil and Plants or Flowers

Once the Mod Podge is dry, add soil and flowers or plants to complete this project.

Alternatively, you can add fake flowers that will look great year round!

Wasn't this just a fun Mother's Day DIY project? Of course you can make these for any purpose, but I thought it would be nice to give you the idea of having the kids do this for mom.

Flowers are one thing, a craft project with flowers is awesome!

Boys like to make art too especially for moms. Dads, Grandma. If you must, use “boy” colors.
