Thinking about what to do with your old divan bed base apart- from use as firewood?

Well as I’m spending so much more time in garden lately due to lock down and trying to grow things from seed instead of buying ready plug plants. So I’ve come up with a little seedling nursery made easily from the old divan bed base.

Dismantle the base

Carefully take off the fabric and staples to reveal the inside parts .

Take out surplus wood

Take our carefully some of the wooden struts that can be possibly reused and repositioned for shelving.

I went for easy options of using the positions already in to secure more struts for shelving and nail in to secure.

Next step is to remove outside fabric and paint the frame and shelves with protective fence and deck paint to weather proof..

Once dry the next step is to use shrink wrap to cover back sides and top etc to create a nice warm cocoon space for seedlings to grow.

Shrink wrap sides and top allows sun in and helps raise temperature and keep wind out.

I place it in a suitable sunny sheltered spot.
