Medium
  • Outdoor Table
  • Made from pallets and leftover timber
  • 8 foot x 4 foot
  • A fun project icon
Sizing

  • Size will depend on the space you have in your garden
  • We went for 8 foot x 4 foot as our garden is very big!!!
  • We wanted it big for entertaining!!!
Stabilizing

  • Add wood to strengthen your frame
  • This is also somewhere for your herringbone design to sit and be nailed to!
Laying the Herringbone

  • My hubby had taken apart pallets and this is what I used for the top of the table
  • I looked up a template online of what I needed to do to make the herringbone shape
  • Its easy once you get the hang of it!
Nailed in

  • I lay them down before I secured them to make sure I was happy with how it looked
  • Once I was happy - I nailed them in place - making sure to nail into the wood we placed to strengthen the table!!
Looking good!!!

  • I used a jigsaw to cut each piece - been careful not to cut into the actual frame
  • I originally used a circular saw but I preferred the finish of the jigsaw!
Varnished and Sides

  • I felt it was unfinished at the edges
  • I added more of the pallets and varnished it!
Close up!

  • This was after 3 coats of decking oil
Legs

  • I used pallets upright for the legs
  • I measured my dining room table for correct measurements or height
  • Cut the top off the pallet - matching the height of a table!!!
  • Added blocks of wood to where we had cut - to be able to screw the table top securely to the legs!
Finished!!!

  • I sprayed the legs in Tudor oak black from ronseal before I attached them!!
  • I needed four people to lift the table top as it was very heavy!!
  • Screwing the legs onto the table top and it was complete!!!
Different Angle

  • Here is a side view of it!!!
