Is that big guy in the red suit is stepping into your fall decorating plans? Finish this adorable pumpkin before he makes it across your lawn.

If you love farmhouse decor and texture this pumpkin is for you.

When your kids move away, fall and Halloween decor changes. At least it did for me. The colors are muted and pumpkins are not carved, they are made.

Supplies for white pumpkin

  • Craft Glue
  • 6 feet of twine
  • a white wool dryer ball
  • one really long needle, yikes! I used a 6 inch upholstery needle
Start with a knot on top

Thread the twine on the needle. Make a simple knot in one end of the twine. Push the needle through the middle of the dryer ball. Pull the twine down tight. This makes a dent in the top of the ball. Like a pumpkin.

Start forming the ribs of the pumpkin

Next, do the same. Start next to the knot on top and push the needle through.

Making a rib

Pull the twine down tight and make the indent of a rib on the pumpkin.

Continue making ribs

Continue poking in the top and pulling tight from the bottom of the pumpkin about 6 or 7 times.

The last poke of the needle

Each time you poke through the bottom of the pumpkin with the needle, the point comes out in different areas. When the last rib is made, poke back through the bottom to the top. This keeps the bottom of the pumpkin neat and without knots.

Then make a knot on top. Leave about 6 inches of twine coming from the top knot.

Making the twine stem cinnamon roll style

Start making a curl in the twine on top like a cinnamon roll. Add craft glue and keep curling and adding glue until it looks like a stem.

Decorate with your little white pumpkin

Let the glue dry and display until the tree appears.

    Can you dye these balls?

Jeannette…you always amaze me…lol! I love these and now I need some! I have some other pumpkins the same size that would look so cute with these. I may even try the dying thing too. I would imagine you could even just paint them with watered down paint. I have a bunch of used ones (yes I save everything!) so I can experiment!

Have lots of fun RVing! Where are you off to?

OK, you got me! What on earth are those dryer balls? We have some that are like rubber tennis balls with knobs on them. Are these wool LINT balls from the dryer? These 2 70+ year olds can't figure it out!! 😸🐈️🙄🤔🥴

I used to many years ago. I am now retired from nursing and love looking at all the “creations”. I’m currently finishing up on getting into my new home and once that is done I’ll probably try my hand at it again. 🤗

    • Congratulation on your new home! We moved just over a year ago to my hometown in Oklahoma. Now I'm busy with creations and painting.
