I wanted to make something for my followers who would love to make a bow an easier way. I think I have something simple for you to make a beautiful designer bow each and every time. I am sharing today my tutorial on an easy bow maker.

The items you will need to make one are:

Materials:

  • 5" x 22" x ½" MDF board
  • ½' dowel rod cut into three 8" pieces
  • wood glue
  • black sharpie
  • Round Self-Stick Adhesive Furniture Gripper Pads

Tools:

  • circular saw
  • drill with drill bit
  • hand sander
  • mallet
  • tape measurer
  • ruler

Taking the 1/2" dowel rod cutting into 3 pieces of 8". Sanded all the ends to a more rounded edge.

To make the ribbon spool holder I placed a mark in the center of one end of the board and measured 1" from the edge, marked.

Taking the drill and a drill bit a little smaller than the dowel rod and drill a hole on the mark. Make sure not to drill all the way through the board. Drill about a third way through.

Taking a zip tie and place it on the mark. This will provide the space I need for the two dowel rods to place in the center. Drill the two marks as steps above.

To add the dowel rods to the drilled holes, I added some wood glue into the drilled holes and tapped in the dowel rods. Removing off any excess glue.

To protect the area I will be working on I applied furniture pads to the bottom corners of the board.

To make it easy to keep the loops of the bow even on each side I marked spaces on each side of the two dowel rods. Solid lines for 1" space and broken lines for ½". I wrote numbers to represent total inches.

That's it!

Now let's make a pretty bow. :)

So how do you start making the bow? I absolutely can not make a bow and am looking for an easy way to learn. No problem making the board but then what?
